OUR STORY

Humanosh was founded by Kasia Skopiec as a way to honor the legacy of Kasia's grandparents, Sława and Izydor Wołosianskiy. The couple were hiding 39 Jews in the cellar of their home for almost two years in Drohobycz (the Poland, now Ukraine). In Poland any form of supporting Jews was strictly forbidden and there was only one penalty – death for all family members.  The grandparents were awarded the title of the Righteous among the Nations of the World by the Yad Vashem Institute.

Inspired by their grandparents' story, Kasia with the support of her mother – Anna Piłko started Humanosh, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping refugees and other vulnerable populations. The organization focuses on human rights advocacy and community development, and works to address the root causes of social inequality. Humanosh offers legal and social assistance, organizes cultural and educational events, and advocates for the rights of refugees and migrants.

At the heart of our work is a commitment to empathy, understanding, and solidarity. By building bridges between different communities and promoting mutual support, the organization aims to create a more just and equitable world. The Wołosianskiy family's history of resilience and determination serves as an inspiration for Humanosh's mission, and the organization is proud to carry on their legacy.

OUR NAME
